Training & Competence

Preparing today’s pilots for tomorrow’s challenges.
At MacAir, training is not an accessory service — it is the very heart of safety. Every
program is based on the direct experience of Francesco Macconi, a professional pilot
with over 9,000 total flight hours, including 5,800 hours of instructional hours, of which 5,800 were instruction. And a career dedicated to single-pilot operations and the development of private, commercial, and aerial firefighting pilots.
The goal is to train professionals capable of managing any scenario with competence,
composure, and situational awareness. For MacAir, technical knowledge is only the
starting point; what truly makes the difference is the ability to apply that knowledge with discipline and sound judgment in real-world conditions.
Tailored Programs for Every Level
MacAir designs customized training paths for agencies, companies, and individual pilots seeking to enhance their operational skills. Each course is adapted to the participant’s
experience level and the program’s objectives:
- Aerial Firefighting Specialization – training on mission profiles, scooping procedures,
drop techniques, and low-level flight operations;
- Recurrent & Proficiency Checks – periodic updates and evaluations to maintain
operational readiness;
- On-the-Job Training – practical experience in real operational environments, merging
theory and practice to strengthen judgment and decision-making;
Every module combines theoretical sessions, practical flights, and technical debriefings, ensuring comprehensive, measurable, and directly applicable learning.
Method, Evaluation, and Performance
MacAir’s approach is structured and progressive:
- Initial skills assessment to build personalized training paths;
- Step-by-step training focused on discipline, precision, and stress management;
- Continuous evaluation to track progress and promptly correct any weaknesses.
Each course includes Crew Resource Management (CRM) and scenario-based
training, key components for developing pilots who can make quick, safe, and
coordinated decisions — especially in single-pilot operations.
Skills that Last Over Time
True competence is not measured solely in flight hours, but in the ability to maintain high standards of awareness, preparation, and focus over time. For this reason, every MacAir training program is designed not just to transfer technical skills, but to instill a mindset of continuous improvement.
Through practical courses, simulations, on-the-job training, workshops, and structured
debriefings, pilots develop the confidence and awareness required to face every mission safely, autonomously, and responsibly.
MacAir training is an investment in safety, efficiency, and the future of flight.
Training competent pilots means strengthening the entire operational system and
promoting a shared culture of excellence and accountability.
Competence is the first step toward safety.
