Safety First

A principle, not an option. Safety drives every decision.
At MacAir, safety is not just an operational priority — it is the foundation upon which every mission, every procedure, and every strategic decision is built. Every activity — from aerial firefighting to technical consulting and training — is designed with a clear purpose: to protect people, infrastructure, and the natural environment, in full compliance with the regulations issued by the aeronautical and civil-authority regulations. MacAir’s philosophy stems from years of experience in complex environments where risk management is not an abstract concept but a daily practice. The goal is to anticipate potential hazards before they arise, through accurate risk analysis and the application of lessons learned from past operations — creating an operational environment where safety, efficiency, and reliability coexist in perfect balance.
Procedures and Operational Standards
Every mission begins with a thorough risk assessment and detailed planning of each
phase. Procedures are developed according to the principles of Crew Resource
Management (CRM) and Single-Pilot Resource Management (SRM), ensuring
coordination, situational awareness, and sound decision-making even in critical situations.
MacAir implements a clear and constantly updated Standard Operating Procedure
(SOP) system that defines every phase of the work:
Pre-flight: weather analysis, operational briefing, technical inspection, and coordination
with the relevant authorities.
In-flight: compliance with aircraft limitations, safety distances, target identification,
effective communications, and proactive risk management in real-time.
Post-flight: structured debriefing, performance analysis, and procedural updates.
Every step is documented and traceable, ensuring maximum transparency and full
compliance with international standards.
A Culture of Safety
What distinguishes MacAir is not only the adoption of procedures but a deep-rooted safety culture embedded in every aspect of our operations. This mindset has been shaped by more than 17 international firefighting campaigns completed without incident, and by the direct experience of Francesco Macconi as Safety Officer and Flight Instructor. Within the teams trained or supervised by MacAir, safety is not treated as a regulatory obligation but as a shared value. Every pilot, technician, and team member is encouraged to report issues, suggest improvements, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of operational practices.
Value for Partners
Working with MacAir means accessing a system built on experience, training, and
strategic vision. Our partners can rely on:
- Tailored technical consulting, to adapt and improve their internal safety procedures
through customized risk assessments;
- Operational audits and reviews, aligned with the standards of international
aeronautical authorities;
- Dedicated training sessions on risk management and in-flight communication;
- On-the-job training, to develop practical skills directly in the operational environment;
- Comprehensive reports and operational guidelines, easily integrated into internal
safety systems.
The goal is to build a safe, sustainable, and continuously evolving operational ecosystem — where safety is not just maintained, but constantly improved.
MacAir believes that every flight, every mission, and every training session is an
opportunity to raise the safety standards of the entire industry.
